Investigating the Issue Between Query Monitor and Solid Performance

Yesterday, I wrote about the launch of a free new plugin called Solid Performance. In that post, I highlighted some issues I experienced trying to measure the impact of Solid Performance on this site by using the Query Monitor plugin.

Today, I’ve continued to investigate what the problem is. First, I did the usual technique of disabling all plugins and turning on a default theme. I then enabled both plugins and noticed the issue was present. Then, I created a new site on InstaWP where everything was fresh and encountered the same issue.

Here’s the issue I’m describing. When Solid Performance and Query Monitor are enabled at the same time, the measuring information from Query Monitor disappears. In fact, all of the drop-down menu items disappear.

I have received a report from a user on SiteGround hosting that both plugins work fine on their site. This leads me to believe there is a possible server or software configuration issue on my hosting and whatever InstaWP is using. I’ll continue to investigate. If you have any suggestions or notice that both plugins run fine in your hosting environment, let me know.

  1. What PHP version are you using? You may want to revert/upgrade it to see if that makes a difference. Could check with the SiteGround user what their versions are as well.
