The WP Awards is an event that lets users nominate, discover, and vote for their favorite WordPress theme, plugin, podcast, etc. The project is organized by Davinder Singh kainth, curator for The WP Weekly newsletter. Nominations are open now and voting will begin on November 1st. Voting ends on November 30th, and winners will be announced on December, 6th. Users can vote once for their favorite tool in a specific category and each category will have a winner and three overall winners.
The primary goal for WP Awards is to highlight the best things people actually use. Winners receive recognition and more visibility which is what most creators want. In order to not influence voting, voting counts will be hidden from the public. I’m curious to see who wins what and whether or not it’s an example of actual sentiment or the result of having a large fanbase.
