Hey WP Mainline community – I’m Marcus and I worked at an Orlando-area agency for 10 years, 4 of them with WordPress. Fell in love with the WordPress community immediately and haven’t looked back. I’ve mostly worked on and supported client websites, but have also dabbled in some plugin development, recently making ElemEDD available (a free Elementor + Easy Digital Downloads widget pack).
I am currently looking for remote work – primarily customer support or WordPress design/development – if anyone knows of any openings… Looking forward to engaging with the community here through the podcast and forums!March 10, 2020 at 1:04 am #3276mperaltyParticipant
Have you tried reaching out to rocketgenius? I know at one point they were looking for more people… Great team there. Looking for full-time or part-time?March 11, 2020 at 5:18 am #3371
Thanks mperalty. I’ll take a look at Rocket Genius (Gravity Forms, right?). Looking for full-time work, please 🙂March 11, 2020 at 1:47 pm #3396mperaltyParticipant
Yeah, they do Gravity Forms. You might also try:
– Modern Tribe
– Crowd Favorite
– Human Made
They are all larger WordPress agencies that often take on Jr. Devs as well as sometimes Support team members. And of course, if you haven’t yet applied, it never hurts to apply to the mothership of Automattic as one of their Happiness Engineers. I know 10up has some people already in Florida.March 11, 2020 at 2:48 pm #3431
I’ve applied to a couple of those, but I’ll check the others out.
My biggest problem is that I’m being viewed as not having “customer support” experience even though I’ve lead projects in an agency with clients for over a decade. Feeling a little bit of the chicken and egg dilemma needing support experience to get my foot in the door with a support position to get support experience…March 12, 2020 at 10:59 pm #3456JeffroKeymaster
Welcome to the Mainline! Check out the employment opportunities from WebdevStudios and 10UP as they’re growing in multiple areas. I get the chicken and egg feeling. It’s like companies want someone with experience but don’t want to hire someone where they mold that person’s experience. Based on what’s going on with Covid-19, there ought to be plenty of remote opportunities for you.
