Hi, Tevya Washburn here.
Grew up in ID, lived in CA and UT, then back in Idaho. Most recently taking a “year without a house” with my wife and 4 children. We spent several months traveling the US, then lived in Playa del Carmen, Mexico for almost 6 months. Lately we spent time in Panajachel, and Antigua Guatemala, followed by a few days in Comitán, Mexico. Now we’re in San Cristobal for a month.
My “day job” is a company I created: WordXpress, a WP support and maintenance company. My side-hustle is Starfish Reviews, a review marketing plugin for WordPress.
I’m a big supporter of Jeff and what he’s doing. I’m also a big supporter of WordPress “groups” that are not on Facebook. They’ve made so many missteps, I think the WP community needs more forums like this that run on open source software and not on Facebook.March 9, 2020 at 6:09 pm #3226JeffroKeymaster
Welcome Tevya. Thanks for your words of encouragement and support for putting this thing together. Sounds like you’re taking this “remote work” thing pretty seriously 🙂March 10, 2020 at 1:35 am #3281tevyaParticipant
Hehe. Yep. It’s been a dream of ours for many years now. We decided to just go ahead and pull the trigger. It’s been tough, but incredible so far. We have very mixed emotions about our time living outside the US coming to an end in about a month.March 12, 2020 at 11:15 pm #3486JeffroKeymaster
So are you planning on coming back to the US? Also, do you follow Nick Haskins on Twitter? He’s really putting in the Remote into Remote Worker in the US.March 13, 2020 at 1:13 pm #3581mperaltyParticipant
Dang, that’s a really slick looking/working site. Good job. I also have my toe in the water of WordPress support/maintenance among other things, so it’s always interesting to hear about others trying to make inroads in that space. Looks like you are doing well! Congrats!
The good news about working remotely is that you might be able to leave and travel again sometime if the opportunity and timing work out.
