Scott Kingsley Clark shared a link on Twitter to a comprehensive spreadsheet that compares the various types of content type and custom fields plugins. The spreadsheet is up to date and maintained frequently by Clark and Matt Gibbs. Today, the chart was improved with the addition of plugin icons and active installs. The plugins are also now listed by active installs.
The chart has rows for plugin type, cost, recommended skill level, TIDE PHP compatibility, and more. In fact, there are just over 90 rows of data compared. Clark says he’d like to expand the spreadsheet into a full-blown website with filters and custom comparison matchups but hasn’t had the time. He also mentioned that almost every plugin author featured in the document has been involved with putting it together and keeping it accurate.
So the next time you need to compare these types of plugins, make sure to visit this spreadsheet as it withholds a ton of useful information.
